Not only did they compete, but Chance Mues and Chris Brazee’s robot took first place and qualified to compete at State and Nationals.
Ravenna was the only school outside of Omaha that competed in the event held January 28 at Nathan Hale Middle School in Omaha. All three Ravenna teams competed numerous times, with Mues and Brazee placing second out of all 52 schools in the preliminaries. They went on to place second in the qualifications rounds and can now compete at the State and National levels.

The evening started with a meal catered by Christie’s Catering. Ravenna’s R Bar served beverages.
Speaker Richard Kimbrough of the Nebraska Humanities Council left everyone laughing with his presentation on Why We Laugh. He said it takes a leader to get people laughing although the leader doesn’t laugh as much as the followers. People in love laugh at just about everything, he said. City goes ahead with test well at VFW Park
The Ravenna City Council held a special meeting at 5:30 on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Present were Mayor Peg Dethlefs, Council members Jim Rasmussen, Kevin Lockhorn, Greg Fiddelke and Fred Matejka and City Clerk Kellie Crowell.
Well site
At the January regular meeting of the Council, two potential sites for a new well has been selected, one on the east side of Ravenna and one at the VFW Park. Public Works Director Richard Douglas reported that Nebraska Water Supply specialist Ralph N. Naber had denied both sites. However, by moving the proposed location at the VFW Park further east that site would be possible. Moving it to the southeast corner would put it 1,000+ feet from the school well and an irrigation well to the southwest. Three trees in the area would need to be removed and one piece of playground equipment relocated. One suggestion during the discussion of the well house was that possibly a cement pad could be poured at the same time and covered with an awning for a small picnic site at that location.
