RHS bowlers take second at C-3 Districts  

  

The RHS Boys Bowling team took second place in District C-3 action held at Sports Bowl this weekend. The Sports Bowl was host for the Nebraska High School Bowling Federation’s District C-3 competition on Saturday, January 28. Boys teams included Chadron, Boone Central, and Ravenna. Girls teams included Chadron, Boone Central, Blue Hill and Ravenna.
Each team would bowl three regular games and five baker games, with the highest combined total winning the District Title. Individual three game series would be recorded during the regular team games. The top ten boys and girls would qualify for state competition as well.
In the boys competition, Chadron led after game one 553 to Boone Central’s 551 and Ravenna’s 509. Boon Central’s 601 in game two gave them the lead with 1152 over Chadron 994 and Ravenna 982. Ravenna’s 650 in game three closed the gap but Boone Central 1666 over Ravenna 1632 and Chadron 1561. Ravenna trailed Boone Central by only six pins with one baker game remaining. Ravenna’s 157 baker game was their best of the day, but Boon Central rolled a 175 game for a 2374 total. Ravenna was second with a 2350 and Chadron was third with 2175.

Taking First Place at the 49th Annual City Tournament was the Golden Harvest team, Dan Schmidt was a Doubles winner along with Jeremy Hemphill who was also All Events winner and Jeff Achtenberg was the winner in the Singles division. Ravenna’s Sports Bowl held the 49th Annual Ravenna USBC City Tournament recently, crowning winners in the Team division, Doubles, Singles and All Events.
Winning the Team Championship this year was the Golden Harvest team of Dale Busch, Brian Stittle, Kelly Bock, Robin Irvine and Joe Charron. Their scratch score was 2524 with a handicap of 807 for a 3331 total. Second place went to the Sports Bowl team with a scratch of 2281 and a handicap of 993 for a total of 3274. Third in the Team division was Newland Electric with a scratch of 2448 and a handicap of 813 for a 3261.
